Come by NY Delight, nydelight.com, in Downtown Pomona on Friday the 16th and see our gallery show featuring 30 Through the Viewfinder prints at the Dark Room Gallery. There will be live music with the Buffalo Skinners from London, England and comedy by Mikey McKernan!
Everyone who takes the workshop will receive a vintage Kodak Duaflex TLR Camera and all materials required to build their own TtV Capture Contraption™. We will build them on the first day and shoot with them on the second day. Tips and techniques on working with your TtV photos in Photoshop will be demonstrated and everyone will get a digital print of one of their photos.
Workshop will be held at Heirloom in downtown Claremont. Go to heirloomclaremont.com for more info and to register.
Art is fun. Art with your children is amazing! This piece was a collaboration with my talented daughter Mackenzie. Our subject was easy to agree upon...our sweet pooch Pom Pom. We both dream of the day when we get to go to Paris and we thought how awesome it would be to take Pom Pom for a walk in the city. This is Mackenzie's first time working in paperclay and she took to it with great confidence. I sculpted and painted the girl figure and guided Mackenzie while she sculpted and painted Pom Pom. The result was this beautiful piece that has been featured in Somerset's Create With Me!
How many of us have found ourselves saying "I just don't feel inspired" or "Where is my muse?" I know I've been there. It's during these times I find myself thinking about the network of talented artists I have connected with over the years. These days it is so easy to connect with many creative friends by visiting their blog or stopping by on one of the many social network sites available.
Inspiration from artists we admire help us develop our own unique style. To me, this is similar to a musician or a chef. You wouldn't say that only one band can play rock or jazz music, or only one chef can cook lasagna. When you hear musicians speak of their inspirations, they will gladly share who has inspired them to create their music. What an awesome way to thank a fellow artist! I have been fortunate enough to hear how a piece I have created inspired another artist to try a technique, or even create a similar piece. It's like hearing another version of a favorite song.
I would like to thank Pam for the opportunity of being a guest contributor to this amazing book. There are so many wonderful artists featured that I am certain you'll find inspiration on every page.
Be sure to visit these wonderful artists on the tour:

This is a subject that is very touchy with many artists. I am going to give you "MY" own personal perspective on this situation. I may not hold the "popular" perspective on this subject, however, it is mine. I own this perspective. I challenge anyone who wants to debate me. This is how "I" feel. It's MY BLOG....right????
My feeling on this subject is, "If I put it out there...wherever "it is"... why wouldn't people want to replicate it." It is good...I wouldn't have put it out there if it wasn't. Okay, yeah, you could say, "how dare they try to make my design?" Really? Do you know how many people come up with similar designs and think they are being SO original?
There are "trends" when it comes to design. Everybody is inspired by trends. You can't help but be influenced by current and past trends. It is what we see every day. Don't fool yourself that you are the "ORIGINAl" designer. We are ALL inspired by artists who came before us as well as current trends. It is my hope that I continue to share and inspire other artists!
I am truly honored and delighted to be featured on Julee Herrmann's HeArt Collective this week! I had the pleasure of meeting her in person and enoying a few art classes with her. She is such a fun girl! She cracks me up!
Julee also has posted a really adorable tutorial today on HeArt Collective where you can learn how to make a Mori Girl skirt for a Fairy. (Your little one)
Julee is a multi-talented artist! She is also offering an on-line course Soldering with HeArt. I've seen her work up close and it is truly beautiful! So be sure to check it out! You won't be disappointed!
We will be experimenting with Tri-Art Acrylics & Shiva Artist’s Paintstiks Oil Paints to achieve effects not obtainable with entry level or bargain priced materials. Participants will create a figure portrait on a 10" x 10" maple panel, transferring the figure template with Richeson Transfer Paper & graphite art pencils. Mixed media elements will be applied to create a unique piece.
We will be producing some awesome relief textures using just paint and kitchen tools! Use Tri-Art Liquid Acrylics and Mediums to produce a series of simple textures that can turn everyday objects into works of art.
It's sure to be a FuN and FaBuLouS time! Hurry and sign up, space is limited!
